  A field study on the impact of using decision support systems on the quality of administrative decisions in the World Food Programme in Damascus

   Abstract

  The study aimed to determine the level of application of decision support systems in the World Food Programme in Damascus, to determine the level of quality of administrative decisions achieved in the World Food Programme in Damascus, and to measure the impact of using decision support systems on the quality of administrative decisions in the World Food Programme in Damascus. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive approach, which depends on studying the phenomenon as it is on the ground, so that it is described accurately, through the analytical method by distributing a questionnaire form, collecting its data, and then analysing it using the statistical analysis program SPSS. A random sample of 100 employees from various job levels was selected from these employees. A questionnaire was distributed to them, and 87 questionnaires were returned.

  The study found that each dimension of decision support systems had an impact on the quality of administrative decisions. The database dimension had the greatest impact, followed by senior management support, then human competencies, and finally, the model base, according to the correlation and identification coefficients.

  The study recommends empowering and enhancing the capabilities of WFP staff in Damascus by employing specialized personnel, updating the programme's database of models and software by adopting decision tree software, and working to protect data from decision support systems. This is achieved by adopting EDR technology for cybersecurity, and by ensuring that clear and accurate data and information are provided and reviewed by more than one source before being entered into the database.
