Topic outline

  • General description

Logistics management in a firm is responsible to accelerate its operations to provide customers effectively and rapidly with a product. Starting with assuring the best and cheapest raw materials, passing by the rational organized production and finishing with the effective distribution to customers through an optimized transportation. On the other hand, Supply Chain Management is in charge of coordinating alliances with other partners to realize these activities. Therefore, it is necessary to use mathematical methods and tools to select suppliers, determine the best collecting or delivering rounds, optimize stocking policies and localizing stores, restructure distribution networks and reducing transportation cost between factories and stores. Subcontracting some of these activities is an alternative. New trends in Logistics will be observed.
