Topic outline

  • General description

The logistics department of the company is responsible for accelerating its operations to provide customers effectively and rapidly with a product, starting with ensuring the best and cheapest raw materials, the rationalized production, and ending with the efficient and economical distribution of products through optimized transportation routes. However, Supply Chain Management becomes the one in charge within the framework of the multiplicity of alliances and partnerships that the company establishes to cover these activities efficiently. Therefore, it is necessary to scientifically trade-off between suppliers, or partner with them, and to use mathematical methods and tools to determine the best collecting or delivering rounds, examples of stocking policies, localizing warehouses, restructuring distribution networks, reducing transportation cost between factories and warehouses and subcontracting some of these activities. Also, new trends in Logistics have to be observed.
