FMEA failure modes and effects analysis for UAV's according to standard specification MIL STD-1629 - Study case: FMEA failure modes and effects analysis for supply circuit 5V in quadcopter system
UAVs manufacturing accelerates so quickly especially in recent years as its importance is cleareyed globally in many fields (health, ambulance, agriculture, firefighting, civil defense, media and photographing, topography scanning, and military ). So many corporations and countries aimed to inter this promising industrial field that presents great investment opportunities.
Developing this industry in our country demand informative infrastructure. Beginning with setting the considerations that must comply to achieve products that meet the requirements and one of these determinants and steps is FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) and the ways to avoid these failures in the first steps of designing for the prototypes all the way to final products that is ready to practical use.
In this study we focus on studying the quad-copter electric boards because of the vast propagation for this kind of UAVs in many applications due to its easiness to control and stability in the applications that needs precision and this circuit is responsible for supplying Flight Controller board of the quadcopter with power.
In this work, we study FMEA for the IC (NJM11100) and Implement FMEA method to recognize the risks resulting from possible failure modes As a result from or study we conclude that the most dangerous failure that could happen to this circuit is (short) because it will stop the out signal and stops the system. And in one of the elements (rectifier c9) on the entrance of the circuit the short may be dangerous on the batteries of the drone so we recommended to put a fuse before this rectifier to protect the batteries and the circuit when such thing happens. it will be enough to change the fuse whenever the short happens and the system will go back on running normally after that.
