  • General description

    The course covers two important aspects of e-commerce, business and technical aspects. It introduces basic concepts and definitions, business models concepts and types, and analyses the recent successful business ideas in e-commerce. It also introduces the different technical tools available on the Internet used to implement e-commerce websites; such as open source software, servers and applications; e-payment service providers; specialized application servers in both B2C and B2B sectors; security solutions and tools used to overcome security threats; and some legal and ethical issues related to e-commerce use. Learning outcomes: After completing this course, students are expected to become aware of main e-commerce concepts and terminologies; recognize the different types of business models; understand e-commerce infrastructure and available applications and tools; explore e-commerce payment systems theory and have hands on one e-payment system as case study; understand e-commerce security issues; explore different available online marketing tools ; and understand supply chain management concepts and related tools.
