    Course Description: This course aims to provide students with the necessary skills to conduct surveys and research to identify and analyze needs. The course focuses on introducing the student to qualitative scientific research methods, represented by interviews and focus groups, and quantitative, represented by questionnaires. It provides the student with statistical and content analysis skills to be able to interpret results and make decisions. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course the student will be able to - Distinguish between qualitative and quantitative data sources and types of scientific research methods - Choose the scientific research methodology appropriate to the situation and available data: - Analyze data correctly and interprets the results - Uses the results of the study to make decisions and identify needs - Understand the biases associated with scientific research and how to overcome and address them - Take into account the ethics of scientific research and the conditions of non-governmental organizations when conducting scientific research - Employ scientific research skills in identifying the needs of beneficiaries and developing the work of non-governmental organizations Resources: - Electronic libraries of Syrian Virtual University - Libraries of the Faculties of Economics at Syrian universities - Al-Assad National Library Suggested Readings - Kellow, A., & Murphy-Gregory, H.
