Topic outline

  • General description

The course provides a general introduction to programming and a (brief) history of bioinformatics, specifically dealing with the R language, which is one of the most popular programming languages for bioinformatics analyses. It aims to teach the basics of programming and its application in the biological field. It also includes an introduction to the basic algorithms that serve biological research. Students are expected to acquire a number of theoretical tools and practical skills for processing, analyzing and presenting complex biological data, with particular attention devoted to sequencing data produced by NGS platforms.
