General description
The course aims at providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills related to the concept of Human Rights at the International and National levels through:
- Give an overview of public rights and freedoms.
- The emergence and evolution of Human Rights concepts and their intellectual, philosophical and legal basis.
- The emergence and development of International Human Rights Law and International Human Rights organization in the United Nations era.
- Sources and characteristics of human rights.
- Rights protected in International Human Rights Law.
- The role of United Nations systems and the Human Rights Council in the protection of Human Rights.
- International protection of human rights, and the definition of contractual and non-contractual mechanisms to protect them.
- Regional protection of human rights and its systems.
- Direction and supervision of the implementation of International Human Rights Law.
- The relationship between International Human Rights law and National Laws.
