Course description: Strategic planning & Management
Course aim: This course aims to link strategic planning and health systems management as a necessary correlation to improve the functioning of these systems, rationalize their capacities, and achieve their goals.
Educational outcomes: The course examines the methods and concepts of three different aspects of strategic management as they relate to healthcare organizations:
1) Strategic planning & Management.
2) competitive positioning, and 3) alliances mergers and acquisitions.
Methods of assessing and analyzing the external environment will include discussions on regulatory control, industry consolidation, disruptive technologies, and crisis management/prevention.
The interaction of forces within the organization such as structure, governance, resource management, and culture will be analyzed for their impact on the organization’s competitive positioning and strategic direction.
