General description
This first course of integrated management of natural resources addresses various concepts and compares between different management concepts of water, coastal and marine resources management, compares them and focuses on the importance of considering the ecosystems and human resources as the basis for resources management, because they generate them in the form of services, and which is and, if they deteriorate, the resource situation deteriorates at the same time. This course also offers successful local, national and global case studies within an interactive framework.
The course consists of two chapters:
1- Integrated Management of Water Resources: This chapter elaborates on the concept of Integrated water resources management (IWRM) and cites success and failure stories and reasons behind it and compares between IWRM and ecosystems adaptive management and means to bundle the two concepts whenever it is needed.
2- Integrated Management of Coastal Zone (ICZM) and marine spatial planning: This chapter elaborates on the concept of Integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) and marine spatial planning and cites success and failure stories and reasons behind it and compares between ICZM and ecosystems adaptive management and means to bundle the two concepts whenever it is needed.
